About Slink

Hey everyone! My name is Steven Livingston and I'm the creator of Slink. I graduated from SEM in 2026 and created Slink shortly before I graduated as a means of being able to help other students connect with alumni and explore college/industry options. Simply put, the motivation behind building the site was seeing just how much my connections helped me during the college application process. Having SEM friends who were at Stanford, MIT, UChicago, Brown, and many other top colleges gave me the opportunity to learn more about what each of those schools uniquely offered and not only helped me to make an informed decision on which college I wanted to attend, but also helped me navigate the admissions process. As a result, I'm now attending the University of Chicago, majoring in Computational & Applied Mathematics. Slink has been a project that has been in the works for quite a while now (it's construction was initially requested by the SEM PTA in 2022), and the entire site is coded from complete scratch using HTML, Tailwind, jQuery, Express.js, Node.js, MongoDB, and Heroku to deploy.
